What is Descriptive Text? 

Descriptive text itself is a type of text that is used to describe something, be it objects, people, or places. 

Social Function

To describe a particular person, place, or thing.

Generic Structure

- Identification

Identifies phenomenon to be described

- Description

Describes parts, qualities, and characteristics.

 

Significant Lexicogramatical Features

- Focus on specifics participants

- Use of attributive and identifying process

- Frequent use of epithets and classifiers in nominal groups

- Use of simple present tense
